Tebowing: The new internet phenomenon

It’s no secret that Denver Bronco’s quarterback Tim Tebow has used football as his platform for his faith, and now his sideline prayers are going viral in a new phenomenon.

Tebowing — which is described on the official website as, “To get down on a knee and start praying, even if everyone else around you is doing something completely different.”

The kneeling craze was named after Tebow, who often drops to his knee after a touchdown in an acknowledgement to God.

After defeating the Miami Dolphins October 23 in his first start this season, Tebow was seen dropping to one knee to thank God while the rest of his teammates ran around him in excitement, according to AP.

The origination of tebowing was to poke fun at Tebow but fans and foes are both getting in on the act.

Maybe it’s not such a bad idea to stop, drop and pray…just be careful of doing it in traffic or your prayers could expedite you out of this world.

It is amazing that one deeply religious football player can cause such a ruckus. From painting Bible verses on his eye black, being outspoken in his faith, to kneeling on the football field, Tebow has made people aware of his faith.

  1. This goes along with every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus is LORD.
