Iranian government changes charges against Christian pastor facing execution

The Iranian state news has issued false reports concerning the charges and conviction for which Christian Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani faces execution.

On Oct. 1 Farsnews. com reported that Pastor Youcef was not convicted for his faith or converting others to Christianity but for “illegal acts” and a threat to public safety, click here for document.
In addition, Fars news agency reported that Pastor Youcef had not been convicted of apostasy but instead is a “Zionist and has committed security crimes,” here for English Translation.
For the past two years since Pastor Youcef’s arrest, the only charged leveled against Pastor Youcef in court has been apostasy. This is the charge on which the Iranian Supreme Court ruled.
The original Iranian Supreme Court verdict, translated from its original Farsi by the Confederation of Iranian Students in Washington, provides that Youcef Nadarkhani was “convicted of turning his back on Islam.”

"We're trying to determine if this is the state-controlled media throwing it out there," Jordan Sekulow, executive director of the American Center for Law and Justice told Fox News.

FoxNews.com and CNN both obtained a copy of the ruling and there is not a single mention of rape or extortion allegations.

The Christian Examiner staff is asking people to contact the Iranian Embassy on behalf of  Pastor Nadarkhani and his family. Please keep them in your prayers.
